The PR7 – Cabo da Roca begins at the westernmost point of continental Europe, an iconic location on the Sintra coast, known for Camões' phrase: "Where the land ends and the sea begins." From here, the trail follows dirt paths and trails along the sea, offering wide views of the cliffs and the Atlantic.
Throughout the trail, the landscape changes between coastal cliffs, pine forests, agricultural areas, and small villages such as Ulgueira and Almoçageme. The vegetation adapted to the wind and sea spray, as well as the diversity of terrains, make the hike quite varied.
Near Praia Grande, one of the main points of interest is the dinosaur footprints etched in the limestone cliff, dating back about 120 million years. Further along, on the stretch towards Praia da Adraga, the trail stands out again for its views of the sea and the natural formations of the cliff, including the Buraco do Fojo.
It is a trail with considerable landscape diversity and several points of natural interest along the way. Although not technically difficult, it has some sections of ascent and descent, so it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear.
