The trail begins on regional road ER 209, on the Paul da Serra plateau (Assobiadores), and ends near the Fanal Forest Station, providing connection to the parish of Ribeira da Janela through trails PR 14 Levada dos Cedros and PR15 Vereda da Ribeira da Janela.
It runs through an area of original Madeiran forest cover, in an exuberant state of conservation and development, within the Laurissilva Forest, classified as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site since December 1999, and part of the European Network of Sites of Community Importance - Natura 2000 Network.
In the area known as Sítio do Fio, you can appreciate the ingenious work of installing cables for transporting firewood and brush collected from the Fanal area, for the agricultural and livestock activities of the inhabitants of Chão da Ribeira and Seixal.
Take advantage of the magnificent Fanal area, a small volcanic caldera classified as a Rest and Silence Reserve by Madeira Natural Park, to acquire a good dose of relaxation therapy.
Here, its beauty lies not only in the imposing groves of centuries-old laurel trees (Ocotea foetens), highlighting some specimens that have survived since before the island's discovery, but also in the spectacular landscapes offered by natural viewpoints.
