PR 14 - Levada dos Cedros

The trail begins on regional road ER 209, in the Fanal area, and to reach the Levada dos Cedros you will need to descend along a path with several wooden steps, extending approximately 1200 meters.
Upon reaching the end of the stairway, you will encounter the levada. If you choose to turn left, you can visit the source of the Levada dos Cedros and contemplate a unique scenery of lush beauty.
Following to the right, you will continue the walk, accompanied by the watercourse until the end of the trail at Curral Falso.
This trail is located within an area of original Madeira forest cover in good state of conservation and development – Laurissilva Forest, classified as a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO since December 1999, and part of the European Network of Sites of Community Importance – Natura 2000 Network.
From its origin, the route of the Levada dos Cedros develops along the steep slope of the right bank of Ribeira da Janela up to the Entrosa site, then bends until its end at Curral Falso.
At Curral Falso you have the possibility to access Ribeira da Janela, following trail PR 15 Vereda da Ribeira da Janela.
