About the trail

This trail is located in the western part of Madeira Island and provides a connection between the parish of Prazeres and the picturesque parish of Jardim do Mar.
In the past, it was one of the few coastal access routes available to the population of Prazeres. The trail is characterized by an elevation difference of approximately 500m, and the descent or ascent should be done calmly while enjoying the magnificent views over the coastal plains of Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar.
Due to the mild climate and abundant water, the population of Jardim do Mar has long been dedicated to agriculture, meticulously practiced on terraces supported by fitted stone walls, along which the trail itself was designed.
Before reaching the village of Jardim do Mar, be sure to visit the Water Mill that once served to grind cereals cultivated in the parish and surrounding areas.
