This trail begins on regional road ER 120, and following the path that provides access to the top of Pico Branco, we encounter an enormous prismatic formation, through which the trail itself was carved, called Rocha Quebrada.
The steepest ascent of the route ends at a fault in the rock, called "Crista do Cabeço".
The trail continues through a landscape dominated by cypress trees (Cupressus macrocarpa), until we reach the fork that takes us, to the right, to Terra Chã, and to the left, to Pico Branco, the second highest peak of Porto Santo.
The Pico Branco and Terra Chã Area is part of the European Network of Sites of Community Interest – Natura 2000 Network, Habitats Directive, due to the existence of endemic flora and fauna (terrestrial mollusks-snails).
At Terra Chã there is a shelter house, which once supported the propagation of endemic plants, their reintroduction into the environment and the conducting of scientific studies, and today allows, upon prior request, to be used by the general population. This trail was deliberately traced for the passage of donkeys carrying loads, when locals sowed barley in Terra Chã.
The return is made by the same trail.
