Vereda da Boca dos Namorados

Close contact with nature, which is found throughout much of Madeira, is a privilege that is hard to forget. A visit to the Miradouro da Boca dos Namorados, in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, is therefore sure to be a memorable experience.
Located in Jardim da Serra, the island of Madeira’s youngest freguesia (local parish council), elevated to that status only in March 1996, this natural lookout is situated in the site called Corrida. The viewpoint sits high above Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, at around one thousand metres of altitude.
Given its privileged position, the view from the Miradouro da Boca dos Namorados is notable for its breadth and beauty. From here it is possible to see the valley of Curral das Freiras, a locality famous for being sheltered by impressive mountain peaks.
In the verdant landscape that frames this viewpoint, visitors can also observe the Eira do Serrado and the central massif of the island of Madeira.
Note that from this point visitors can also access a vereda (footpath) that provides a pedestrian route to Curral das Freiras.
